The Opportunity
Big Rock Machining Co. is seeking a dependable, hands-on Shop Support Technician to assist with shipping, receiving, packaging, material handling, shop upkeep, and general manufacturing support.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in keeping things organized, and is willing to help wherever needed. Daily work may include building shipping crates, preparing products for shipment, receiving materials, moving supplies, performing light maintenance, and keeping the shop clean and ready for production.
How the Workflow Works
ā¢ Estimator: creates and documents the manufacturing strategy and cost basis at quote stage.
ā¢ Program Manager: adds contract requirements after award.
ā¢ Manufacturing Manager: creates the production plan.
ā¢ Manufacturing Coordinator: implements the approved router in ProShop.
ā¢ The Estimator supports clarification and handoff, but does not own released production planning or final router creation.
What Success Looks Like
Products are packaged securely, and shipments are prepared accurately and on time.
Incoming materials are received, identified, and staged promptly, with discrepancies reported early.
Materials, tooling, and supplies are available where needed to support manufacturing.
Shop and storage areas remain clean, safe, and organized.
Assigned support tasks are completed reliably, safely, and with minimal supervision.
What Youāll Do
Package finished products safely and securely to prevent damage during handling and transportation.
Build wooden crates, skids, and other shipping supports using common hand and power tools.
Prepare, label, stage, load, and unload shipments and assist with required shipping documentation.
Receive deliveries, verify quantities and material condition, and report damaged, missing, or incorrect items.
Move, identify, stage, and store materials, tooling, equipment, supplies, and workpieces in designated areas.
Assist manufacturing personnel with job setup, teardown, organization, and other non-production support activities.
Maintain clean, orderly, and safe shop, shipping, receiving, and storage areas; remove trash, scrap, packaging material, and debris.
Perform light facility and equipment upkeep within the employee's training and ability, and report larger maintenance needs.
Monitor and restock common shop, packaging, janitorial, and safety supplies as assigned.
Follow safety requirements, use required personal protective equipment, and operate tools or equipment only when trained and authorized.
Protect product identification, condition, and traceability while following applicable procedures and AS9100 quality-system requirements.
Complete other shop-support tasks as assigned and communicate delays, safety concerns, or material issues promptly.

Work environment and physical requirements: This is a hands-on role in a precision CNC machining environment. The employee must use required personal protective equipment and, with or without reasonable accommodation, safely stand, walk, bend, lift, carry, and move materials throughout the workday.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, receiving, or shop-support experience.
Experience building wooden crates, skids, or industrial packaging.
Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
Basic computer, shipping-system, or ERP experience.
Experience in precision machining, aerospace manufacturing, or another quality-controlled environment.
